A FUGITIVE snake that has been on the run for over a week has been spotted in Newton Abbot.

The snake was first spotted catching some rays by a passer-by on May 18, before slivering into a storm drain and evading capture.

A photo appears to show a Corn snake, a species that does not pose any danger to people and are not venomous.

The snake was spotted this morning on Courtenay Road.

The owner of the exotic animal has yet to be identified.
