Colin and Pat Panter, of Portsmouth, write:
May we thank everyone involved in arranging a party for Colin at Shaldon on Saturday, July 3.
The welcome was wonderful, the food superb and it was so nice for Colin to see the shaldon gang of the war years he played with while an evacuee.
He had not seen them for 65 years, so you can imagaine the reminiscing that took place.
It covered everything from being machine-gunned on Shaldon Bridge to climbing up Labrador Bay with a frying pan, and making omelettes out of seagull eggs – yes, they did have a fishy flavour.
Thank you again, especially Buster Ingram and shirley, Trevor and Pam Jackson and last but not least the Shaldon gang. More memories to be put in our old memory banks.
