A TWENTY-three-year-old woman who worked at Shaldon Zoo who had ‘never been happier in her life’ has died after suffering a head injury during a rugby match.

Lily Partridge, who lived in Starcross and Exminster before moving to Exeter, sustained the injury during a match and collapsed on the side of the pitch.

Late on Monday night her life-support machine was switched off at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

In her own player profile, 5ft 2ins tall Lily said: ‘I am a zoo keeper at Shaldon Wildlife Trust and I specialise in primates.

‘I have always loved rugby, playing and coaching tag when I was younger, but never had an opportunity to play until Exonian Ladies was formed.’
