PLANS have been submitted for an extension to a village health centre to provide improved facilities and care for more patients.

The existing St Andrew’s medical centre, Ipplepen, built in 1996, has almost 5,000 patients on its list and according to the NHS guidelines is ‘significantly underprovided for’ by 38 per cent.

Agents for the scheme, in a statement to Teignbridge Council planners, said: ‘Approval of the scheme will greatly improve this statistic and enable Ipplepen health centre to better cope with an ever-growing patient list.’
