Chocolate lovers are in for a treat in Chudleigh on Friday, March 10.
As part of the town’s Fairtrade fortnight a producer of cocoa beans from Ghana will be speaking; there’ll be food and chocolate tasting; and a quiz all about chocolate.
The ‘Fairtrade Extravaganza Evening’ will be in Chudleigh Town Hall, from 6.30pm.
Fairtrade tasting will include wine, coffee, tea, soft drinks and food, including chocolate of course.
Organiser Margaret Parsons said there’ll be stalls from Chudleigh’s Co-Op store, other traders from the town, and Traidcraft. There’ll also be a raffle.
She said: ‘At 7.30pm, one hour after doors open, Chudleigh Mayor Richard Keeling will welcome guests, before Isaac Biadoo tells us how producing cocoa beans for delicious Divine chocolate has improved his life and that of others in his community.
‘Isaac is 39 and a farmer from the western region of Ghana and also welfare chairman at a national level for Kuapo Kokoo Co-operative Cocoa Farmers. He will be visiting various events in Devon as part of Fairtrade Fortnight.’
Margaret said everyone is welcome to attend the Chudleigh event.
She added: ‘We’re also looking at the possibility of Chudleigh becoming a Fairtrade town.’
