A Bovey Tracey man is lucky to be alive after an oak signpost with aluminum signs fell on him on him while he sat on a seat in Hennock, on Sunday.

Jack Smith, 67, was taking a breather from cycling from Bovey Tracey to Hennock, when the incident happened.

'I was on the seat, bent over catching my breath and waiting for my son-in-law and grandson to catch up and the post just fell right on­ my neck,' he said.
