FAMILIES have taken to Facebook to say their stay in Dawlish Warren was ruined by a Christmas night violent incident at a holiday park.

While others have voiced their support and appreciation for the staff and owners of the Welcome Family Holiday Park in Dawlish Warren.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said on Christmas Day that they couldn't disclose full details at this stage but added: ‘There was significant disorder at the Welcome Family Holiday Park in Dawlish Warren, during the early hours of December 25.

‘Police are investigating a grievous bodily harm incident related to the disturbance.’

One family said: ‘We had to leave last night. Our kids are devastated.

‘Took us three hours to get home at 9pm last night. Very tired and I wish people would think of others.’

Another said on the holiday park’s Facebook page: ‘We left tonight at 7pm after one night – five hour drive. Thanks to the group of idiots for wrecking all our xmas. Hope you’re proud?’

But others were quick to say: ‘Absolutely disgusting. It’s such a wonderful family holiday park, I have been going since I was a kid, and now I take my kids, absolutely shocked to hear.

‘I hope everyone at welcome all staff as well are ok.’

Another added: ‘I hope all of the staff are ok. We stayed here a couple of weeks again and I know how hard they have all worked to make it so special and festive for all of the guests.’

The police spokesperson added: ‘A police presence will remain in the area, highly visible for the next 24 hours to respond to community concerns.’

The holiday park has been contacted for comment.
