PEOPLE in Chudleigh wanting to build their way out of the affordable housing crisis have put out an appeal for land and fellow house hunters.
Mother-of-two Emma Buckman has been in talks with three other families about creating a community land trust but suspects many more might be interested.
If the project takes off a deposit of just £5,000 could get people on the housing ladder, the high cost of construction kept down by the would-be home owners putting in much of the labour.
The bonus for landowners is that sites where planning permission might not necessarily be given could be approved by Teignbridge Council, bumping the value up to a capped £10,000 per building plot.
