POLICE are reminding farmers to consider the security of their fuel stores following reports of theft.

Devon & Cornwall Police are urging farmers to make sure any fuel stores are secured and locked.

Extra security, such as CCTV, an alarm system and fencing, are also something to consider, police say.

A spokesperson for Devon & Cornwall Police’s Rural Affairs Team said: ‘Make sure your records are up to date as to how much fuel you currently have and if you see any suspicious activity report it to police immediately.

‘If there is someone on your farm that shouldn't be, and they are still on scene CALL 999 to report a crime in progress.

‘If you find that fuel has been stolen from your farm after the event, it is still really important to get it reported to police either by calling 101, or reporting via the Devon and Cornwall Police Website’.
