THE much-missed Shaldon ferry will be running again by summer.The new operator is a former ferryman, Greg Allen, who yesterday signed a 15-year lease with the owners, Teignbridge Council.He has taken over from James Trout, who relinquished the lease in the autumn, saying it had become uneconomic.But Mr Allen is confident he can make a going concern of the ferry – reputed to be the oldest in the country – that normally plies between Teignmouth and Shaldon throughout the year.
