MORE than £400 has been raised for a local cancer charity following a Christmas concert last month.

The Shaldon Singers, directed by Tim Crompton and accompanied by organist Andrew Millington, presented a varied programme of festive music in St Peter’s Church in December.

After the concert a retiring collection raised £440 for Shaldon’s Cancer Research UK branch.

Gill Willis from the charity said: ‘‘Thank you so much for donating £440 to Shaldon and District branch of Cancer Research UK.

'It was a fantastic concert and got us all into the Christmas spirit.’

Shaldon Singers rehearsals, which take place in St Peter’s Church, resume today (January 11), when the Singers start rehearsals for Mozart’s Requiem and Pergolesi’s Magnificat.

New singers are always made very welcome and anyone interested in joining can email [email protected] or see the website here.
