LONESOME and hungry folk will find company, food and good cheer at a church in Newton Abbot on Christmas Day.
The Spiritualist Church in East Street will be serving up its vegan pot stew from midday together with some delicious pies.
It’s the first time the church has organised such an event to help those in need over the festive break.
Spokesman Ricky Whitemore said: ‘It is traditionally a wonderful time – but it can also be miserable for some. This is something we have wanted to do for anyone on their own.’
He was chuffed that Clive’s Pies from Buckfastleigh had added to the spirit of the season by donating 20 of its freshest vegetarian pies to vary the menu.
‘We are very grateful to them. It’s a tremendous thing to do,’ said a delighted Ricky.
