THE number of Teignbridge people claiming Job Seeker's Allowance fell in March by more than 100. According to the Office for National Statistics there are now 1,065 claimants, down from 1,185 in February.

In March 2013 the figure stood at 1,6351.

The latest results suggest 1.4 per cent of the district's adult population is looking for work, better than the regional and national rates of of 1.9 and 2.9 per cent respectively.

Among the district's 18 - 24-year-olds the number of claimants fell from 320 to 280. some 3.4 per cent of the total.
