A FILM night with a difference is on offer from the Teignmouth Film Society, which is now based in Dawlish.
On Friday, January 20, the society will be screening ‘The Courier’, starring Benedict Cumberbatch as the British businessman turned spy, Greville Wynne.
This will be at the Shaftesbury Theatre, Dawlish, with doors open from 7pm with the film beginning at 8pm.
Before the film, the society will be asking guests to help choose films for their new season (starting in April).
There will be a poster display, with details of the longlist of film titles suggested by the filmgoers.
‘Every vote counts!’ says Hilary Olek, Teignmouth Film Society film booker.
‘This is an important screening for us as we are also asking those who come to the film to vote for the films they would like to see in our new season of films.
‘We see our film society as very much part of the community and our idea is that by helping to choose the programme, our film-goers will feel they are playing an active part in the society.
Of the film she says: ‘An unlikely friendship between a British businessman and a disillusioned Russian diplomat helps bring about the end of the Cuban missile crisis in the Cold War era.
‘It’s a true-life story you could not make up! Tense thriller, with an excellent cast.’
Running time for the film is one hour, 51 minutes and entry costs £5 with free parking.
