EYEWITNESSES have described an explosion at a Newton Abbot electricity sub station as 'like a fireball'.

Businesses opposite the station in Minerva Way on the Brunel Industrial Estate reported hearing a large bang followed by a blinding light, said to have been like lightning.

The alarm was raised just before 11am when the loud bang was heard.
