CLAY company Sibelco is proposing to expand its mining operation at two sites in Teignbridge.
The firm is looking to extract minerals from the 'internationally important ball clay reserves' at Chudleigh Knighton and the Clay Lane ball clay works at Kingsteignton.
Before a planning application is submitted, Sibelco is looking to establish what environmental assessments need to be done at the sites through a scoping request to Teignbridge Council.
In a report to planners, the company states: 'Quarrying in its nature has environmental impacts and while this application seeks the extraction of minerals from areas with existing permissions and consented mineral reserves, the potential environmental effects of the proposals must be fully considered.'
