UKIP gained their first seat in the 11 Devon County Council Teignbridge Divisions when Antony Dempster took KINGSTEIGNTON. John Clatworthy retained the DAWLISH division for the Conservatives in the Devon County Council elections with a massively reduced majority over UKIP's Martin Heath. Former Lib Dem MP, Richard Younger-Ross gained the TEIGNMOUTH Division ousting sitting Conservative James McMurray. It was clear the Lib Dems were benefiting from UKIP splitting the vote – Mr Younger-Ross had a 272 majority 1,185-913, with UKIP's Michael Smith third on 749 votes.
Across at ASHBURTON AND BUCKFASTLEIGH, Stuart Barker easily retained the seat for the Conservatives, but it was Alan Whitton of UKIP who crossed the line in second place – the Lib Dems John Nutley being pushed into fourth place by the Green Party's Anna Clarke.
