ONE of 10 new defibrillators funded by an emergency response charity have been installed in Newton Abbot this week.

The first defibrillator has now been installed at Newton Abbot Rugby Club and several more are planned to be installed in quick succession.

The charity behind the scheme, Jay’s AIM, give free emergency response training to young people and encourage them to get their hearts checked and provide public access defibrillators.

Jay’s AIM are Newton Abbot College’s charity of the year.

The charity hopes that the impact of coronavirus will not effect their goal.

The installation of 10 new defibrillators is estimated to cost more than £10,000.

Dan Osborne, of Jays AIM, said: ’I think it’s a great story of local students working together to provide something amazing for the local community.
