TWINNERS from Newton Abbot have been out and about, visiting St Leonard’s Church and enjoying a fish and chip supper together.
The Newton Abbot Twinning Association has been running for 38 years, following an arrangement in 1979 between the Teignbridge town and Besigheim in Germany.
Newton Abbot members visited St Leonard’s Church to learn about its future as ‘Newton’s Place’ – the new museum and town council office.
Allan Vizor, of the association, said: ‘Tess Walker from the museum gave a very interesting talk about the past history of the church – of how it came into being, to the bright new future of the building.
‘All had an enjoyable evening and good wishes to the future of Newton’s Place.’
The following week members of the association enjoyed a fish and chip supper at Jackson’s in Queen Street, Newton Abbot.
Allan added: ‘There was no sea or seagulls in sight, and all had an enjoyable evening.’
Besigheim Choir is due to visit the town in June and a concert will be held at the Dream Church in Milber on June 11.
