BEAUTIFUL handcrafted flags have adorned the streets of Bovey Tracey for several years now.

Seen hanging outside shops and restaurants, they portray the character of each business in a charming and quirky fashion and have made the town centre one of the most colourful in Devon.

And if you’ve ever fancied trying your hand at making your own flag, now’s the chance.

Bridget Arnold, the mastermind behind the town’s colourful feature, is holding a flag-making workshop over two days, Thursday and Friday, November 24 and 25 at the Woodland Centre in Yarner Wood near Bovey Tracey.

Bridget said: ‘You will be able to pick up some of the skills and techniques needed to design and sew fabric flags as part of Granite elements, the Bovey Tracey Parishscape project and play a real part in helping the arts and landscape project.

‘By the end of the workshop you will have helped create a banner to be used at events and walks held by the project.’

The workshop is free and all the materials and equipment will be provided, but if you have your own sewing machine bring it along!

The workshops take place from 10am to 4pm each day, and for more information contact community officer Andy Bailey on 1822 890903 or email moorthanmeetstheeye.org to book your place,
