SOME 7,000 swimming sessions look set to be cancelled at Newton Abbot Leisure Centre as engineers continue to repair the flooded plant room.

On average 2,300 swims take place each week at the popular facility that was put out of action almost a fortnight ago after a valve was mistakenly left open.

The identity of the person responsible is known to managers but is not being made public as they are said to be mortified by their mistake and have suffered enough.
