Former florists and nursery workers from R B Webber and Son florist, Newton Abbot, had a blooming marvellous time when they met for a reunion at the Church House, Abbotskerswell, on Saturday. The Webber nursery was started in 1850 and later the company opened a florist in Wolborough Street. The Webber's bought the florist shop in 1940 and expanded the premises. it was bought 23 years later by Sidney Gibbs, of Kingsteignton, and continued to trade under the Webber title. It closed in the early 1970s. 'The reunion all went very well,' said Ann Wild, who worked for the company for more than 20 years. 'We had a lovely time. We all had to look at each other a few times to work out who was who, as many of us hadn't seen some of the other employees for 30 years. 'We spent a lot of time reminiscing. I also had some friends from the WI who did the catering, which was nice. 'We also had an original member of the Webber family at the reunion, Ruby Caney, who is the granddaughter of the owner.'
