A Newton Abbot florist will be showing off her floral talents at RHS Tatton Park Flower Show, Cheshire. June White, of Bouquets, Union Street, Newton Abbot, is up for the title of Interflora Florist of the Future at the event, which runs from July 20-24. She'll have to beat off competition from ten finalists in the competition and will have to develop a series of unique creations under timed conditions in front of a live audience. These will show off the very latest floral trends and design ideas, and be inspired by different themes. Now in its 11th year, the Florist of the Future Competition nurtures new potential, offering up and coming florists the chance to learn different skills and gain competitive experience. Year on year, these young finalists have shown real flair, creativity and innovation, putting their mark on the industry before going on to achieve greater things in their careers. 'I entered the competition and got through the heat at St Mellion Flowers in Cornwall in the winter. 'I never expected to get to the final,' said June, who has been a florist for three and a half years. 'I'll have to create four pieces for the competition, one I can take pre done and the other three they give you a box of flowers and you have to create some sort of floral piece and you are timed. 'Sharon Ellis, the owner of Bouquets, is really pleased for me. 'I'll compete in the contest on July 24.'

Floral finery: Newton Abbot based florist June White is taking her place among the country’s elite shortly as she attempts to win a national title.
