BRRRRRrrr.... Gritters will be out across Devon this evening as forecasters predict widespread icy conditions right through to tomorrow morning.

Road surface temperatures are expected to fall to the lowest of the season so far, dipping below zero countywide and reaching around -3C on Dartmoor and East Devon.

Devon County Council is advising people to take extra care as temperatures aren’t likely to rise until after 9am tomorrow. It says icy patches may be a problem.

All of the county’s 37 frontline gritters will be treating primary salting routes this evening – and they will be treated again in the early hours of the morning.
