A Bishopsteignton care home that was saved from possible closure last year is inviting the public to see how it’s changed for the better under new ownership.
Estuary View, formerly known as Moors Park, was rated inadequate by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in May 2025 and had been warned it was falling below the required standards.
In July 2025 it was taken over by Centrum Care Homes Group, which has introduced a whole raft of improvements “to restore stability, structure and confidence”.
A year on, Estuary View is holding a community open day to show the progress made so far.
The home hasn’t had another CQC inspection yet, but has been assessed to the same standards by a consultancy that helps care homes meet CQC requirements. It was rated Good overall and Good across all five key areas: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led.
Estuary View’s Registered Manager Tracie Bowen said: “When Centrum Care Homes Group took on Estuary View, everyone knew there was a lot of work to do, but there was also a real determination to protect the home and give residents, families and staff the stability they deserved.
“Over the past year, the team has worked incredibly hard to rebuild confidence, strengthen standards and create a calmer, more positive environment for residents.
“Achieving Good across the board in our independent mock inspection is a proud moment because it shows how far the home has come.
“For us, the open day is about more than marking an anniversary. It is a chance to welcome people in, thank the community for its support and show the progress that has been made. Estuary View has a renewed sense of pride, and we are excited for people to see that for themselves.”
The open day takes place on Friday, July 24 between 10am and 4pm at Estuary View House, Moors Park, Bishopsteignton TQ14 9RH.
