PLANS to extend Newton Abbot’s Southlands Residential Home to house 40 additional beds and create a new access way is set to be discussed tomorrow at the town council’s planning meeting.
As well as the additional space for beds, the applicant, Mr and Mrs Andrew Bone, want to create a new staff car park which will be accessed off of Greenaway Road.
Since the plans were submitted last month, several residents have complained about the proposal.
Warren Lake of Noelle Drive said: ‘I am concerned as the proposal of the new extension may well overlook out back garden causing loss of privacy.’
Spencer Brinton of Coombeshead Road complained: ‘We object to the proposal due to the overbearing nature of the proposed extension, overlooking, loss of light and privacy.’
Devon County Council highways believe there is no reason to object the plans.
Tomorrow the town council will discuss the application and send their recommended answer to Teignbridge Council.
