ARE you volunteering to be the designated driver over Christmas? If so then you're in luck for a free drink, albeit a soft drink, awaits you as a part of Devon and Cornwall Police's 'Lift Legends' campaign.

Drink and drug driving is one of the ‘fatal five’ causes of serious injuries and deaths on roads in South West England. Last winter, Devon & Cornwall Police arrested 952 people who were caught driving under the influence.

This year, Devon and Cornwall Police are working with pubs and clubs to reduce drink and drug driving. Participating venues will be offering free drinks to designated drivers who are doing their bit to make sure their friends, colleagues and family members get home safely.

But how does one claim their free drink?

Simply let your bartender know that you’re the designated driver and, when you purchase your first soft drink, they’ll issue you with a voucher for a free one.
