FREEMASONS from across Devon will be celebrating 300 years of Freemasonry at Exeter Cathedral on Saurday.

Everyone is invited to the thanksgiving service to celebrate the tercentenary of Freemasonry in England, from 6pm.

The service will begin with a parade of around 40 lodge banners, led by the new provincial tercentenary banner.

The masons will be wearing their regalia in public for one of the first times in many years. They will leave from Chapter House and march to the cathedral for the service.

Freemasons are starting to be more public with their societies, and encouraging new members.

The thanksgiving service will be attended by the Lord Lieutenant of Devon; Lord Mayor of Exeter; deputy chairman of Devon County Council; Lord and Lady Clifford of Chudleigh; and Sir David Wootton, assistant grand master of England.
