R J COLE, of Greenhill Way, Kingsteignton, writes:

The government is stealing tax payers' money to line their own pockets and it's time that the people of this country stood together and said 'no more'.

The main workforce of this country has to survive on their salary and pay their monthly bills from this, so why should the government, and let's not overlook people like county councillors, government officials, district and town council employees, all of whom seem to be provided with claimable allowances.

Thousands of hard-working people are losing their homes or struggle to find a home while MPs use tax payers' money to get a second or even a third home.

It's time for them all to be investigated from the top down.

If Mr Average in the street was caught being dishonest it would be a possible fine or jail sentence, so why should they get away with it?

Anyone within the government found fiddling their allowances should be suspended for six months on no pay and, if it's serious enough, sacked or taken to court.

The Lib Dems are at it again. Millions of pounds in debt and with the country in a recession, they are requesting a 32 per cent increase in their allowances!

Just how and why should this happen, especially as one local MP has already been found to be 'misusing his allowances'. They all have a lot to answer for.
