Teignbridge businesses, organisations and individuals will be out in force supporting Children in Need events in the next few days.

Fun activities have been arranged across the district.

Highweek Primary School, Newton Abbot, will be making Pudsey bear pizzas to fundraise for the charity, while staff at businesses are also helping the cause. Many will leave their uniforms at home in aid of Children in Need.

Employees at Den Dental, Newton Abbot, will be going to work in fancy dress, workers at Fermoy's, Ipplepen, will dress as life size fruit and vegetables and workers, and Newton Abbot Specsavers staff will be wearing their pyjamas.

A free glasses repair service, guess the number of spectacles in a jar and a charity raffle will take place throughout the day.

Store director Steve Middleweek said: 'Children in Need is a charity that everybody wants to get involved with.

'We are hoping to raise at least £200 through our charitable efforts and urge the local community to dig deep and help us reach our target.'

To make a donation to Children in Need through Specsavers please contact the store on 01626 336781.

Asda, Newton Abbot, will also be collecting throughout the day.

Meanwhile, a special bear dropped in unannounced at Kingkerswell primary school on Monday to get pupils (if they needed it) into the mood for Children in Need.

School administrator Theresa Carwithen said: 'He came into assembly. The children were told they were expecting a visitor but didn't know who to expect.'

All today's fundraising activities have been organised by the children and include how many ways can you wear a Pudsey bandana, decorating Pudsey biscuits, pinning the bandage on Pudsey and spotting the Pudsey difference.

'I think they're going to be Pudseyed out,' she remarked.
