YOUNG skateboarders have received a cash boost for their indoor skate park from Dartmoor Vale Rotary Club.

The Rotarians, based in Bishopsteignton, donated £500 to The Lodge Skate Park, Newton Abbot.

A spokesman for the Rotarians said: ‘The money will be used towards the cost of equipment or other necessities needed for the centre.

‘Nikki Taylor, chairman of the skate park trustees committee, received the cheque from Rotarians Barry Carpenter, community service committee chairman, and secretary John Calderwood.

‘She expressed her gratitude on behalf of the trustees for the donation, which will be put to good use by them.’

The skate park committee has recently applied to Devon Community Foundation for £5,000 to improve the park’s flooring and is currently awaiting a decision.
