INVESTORS in Newton Abbot’s future are being invited to help beautify a previously-tired part of the town centre, writes Paul James.

Work is under way to transform the dreary and neglected emptiness of Golden Lion Square into an attractive focal point which is restful on the eyes and feet of weary shoppers.

Already sponsors have come forward with funding for the costlier elements of the new-look space due to be formally unveiled in the new year.

The motive force behind the revamp – Newton Abbot Community Trust – is delighted with the progress being made.

But the team is still anxious to attract financial backers to put the finishing touches to the scheme.
