PUPILS from Kenn Primary School had a lesson in democracy recently. They were treated to a trip to the Houses of Parliament last month and were able to observe the workings of Government in both houses first-hand.

One Class 4 pupils said: ‘We had a very exciting trip. We left school at 6am and travelled by coach to London. We went to the Houses of Parliament for a tour and workshop. We went to the viewing gallery of the House of Lords; they were debating the Ukraine War and in the House of Commons we witnessed a debate about the cost of living crisis in the UK.

‘We all saw some famous faces – Prime Mnister Rishi Sunak, Theresa May, Ed Milliband, Jeremy Hunt and Boris Johnson – to name but a few!

'It was very interesting and we now know far more about the role of Parliament than we did before.’

After visiting Westminster, the pupils we took the coach to the Natural History Museum where the Earthquake Zone and the dinosaurs area proved to be the top favourites.

‘It was an amazing day in London,’ said one.
