TWO 1st Teign Valley Scouts have become the first members of the group to be awarded the Chief Scout’s Gold Award badges.

Scott Guildford and Helena Cronin successfully completed challenges to gain the award, covering outdoor activities, international awareness, local voluntary work, creative crafts and camping, during three years in the Scouts.

They are pictured with Paul French, the Group Scout leader, who received his 30 year service award.

Scott has now gone on to the Exeter Sea Cadets and Helena to the Moretonhampstead Explorer Scout Group.

Another member of the group was awarded her Chief Scout’s Bronze Award for her time in the Beavers.

The 1st Teign Valley Group runs Scout, Cub and Beaver sections in Bridford Village Hall and anyone who can help with the running of the group, particularly the Cubs on Thursday evenings, is asked to contact Mr French on 01647 252721.
