THERE are good entries for the sheep and cattle classes at tomorrow's Newton Abbot Christmas show in the town's cattle market. The 88th show features 110 classes for the exhibition of cattle, young handler's class, heaviest beef animal, carcases, roots and vegetables. Sections also include apples, silage, hay, wheat, barley, Young Farmers' Club and children's classes for ten-15-year-olds. In the domestic section there is a class for Christmas cakes, bread and new this year a class for a Thermos of hot soup. Entries for the photograph classes are good. The president of the show is Holcombe farmer and Teignbridge Councillor, Humphrey Clemens, while the joint secretaries are Clive Morgan and Peter Farnsworth. Judging gets under way at 9.45am and the YFC judging at 1pm. The annual show dinner and presentation of cups and awards is at the Grange Restaurant, Buckfast Abbey, on Monday.
