SOME military units had to pull out of the Teignmouth Armed Forces Day Parade at the weekend, because of Olympic duties.

But there was still a good turn out for the town centre and seafront events on Saturday, and Nick Maylem, of Canonteign Sea Cadets, which co-ordinated the parade on behalf of the town council and ex-servicemen and women organisations, said he was pleased with the way it went.

'It was very moving, and I am sure everybody who took part or watched was moved by the respect shown to all those people in the military who gave their lives for us,' he said.
