INNOCENT victim Pat Major saw the funny side when she was briefly caught up in a 'body in the boot' mystery with police in Newton Abbot.

Mrs Major, who is 60 and lives in Ashburton, had been seen by a fellow shopper acting 'suspiciously' prodding something in her boot which would not shut properly in Asda's car park.

The shopper even went so far as to climb into her car and trail Mrs Major's Nissan Micra as she headed for her daughter Shona's home in Rosemary Avenue, Newton Abbot.

The amateur detective's suspicions deepened when she noticed a trail of red liquid leaking from the boot.
