ORGANISERS battling to keep Ashburton swimming pool open are holding a fun day in a bid to raise vital funds.
Supporters have been fighting to keep the Love Lane pool open for more than a year and have set up a Friends' group to support the popular heated pool as a charity.
Although owned by Teignbridge Council, cuts in local authority budgets have left a question mark over the pool's future.
Under threat of possible closure, the friends' group is going all out to make sure the pool, described as a 'real gem' and 'well worth saving' keeps going.
The new charity has opened a popular poolside cafe, run by volunteers, improved the changing area and raised awareness locally of the town's asset.
