MEMBERS of the Ipplepen Local History Group are celebrating the fact their campaign to raise the profile of the village's war memorial has culminated in the structure being given a Grade II listing.

The project was launched last year to coincide with the centenary of the first world war.

The first task was to have the granite cross cleaned and refurbished. The owner, Ipplepen Parish Council, gave its backing and successful applications were made to Devon Remembers, The Ipplepen Community Fund and county representative Cllr Alistair Dewhirst for funds.
