More than 60 Guides and Guide Leaders from past and present came together to celebrate the 1st Kingsteignton Guide group's 50th birthday on Saturday.
Guides, Leaders and all involved in the unit during the past 50 years since its registration in March 1956 were invited to the golden jubilee party at Homers Lane, Kingsteignton. The first Guide, Barbara James, and some of the early Guide Leaders attended and enjoyed the afternoon reminiscing with many reunited friends.
Hundreds of photos were on display as well as posters depicting Guiding through the decades as well as Guiding in the future.
Jeanne Langridge, Guide Leader and her assistants Linda Reading and Adele Thomas organised the fun event.
'It was a big celebration and a great success,' said Mrs Langridge.
'It was a great success and it was a lot of fun as some of the Guides dressed in old Guide uniforms which were donated by a Newton Abbot Guider.
'The Guides organised lots of activities and spent a lot of the time looking and laughing at old Guide photos taken in the last 20 or so years.'
One of the highlights was when Mrs James and the newest Guide in the unit cut the birthday cake, donated by local baker Adrians of Ley Lane, Kingsteignton.
Tesco Express and The Fountain Fish and Chip Shop also donated prizes for the raffle.
Although some of the missing links were found, the Guide Leaders would still welcome any further information and memorabilia, especially from the 70s. If you can help, call Jeanne Langridge on 01626 367314 or 07881907021
