Residents of Hennock showed community spirit when many attended the primary school's Strawberry Fair and helped raised more than £400 for school funds on Saturday. 'It's the most funds we've ever made by holding an event, and considering we only have 40 pupils we did fantastically well,' said Nicky Dunford, headteacher at the school. 'It's a new event for us and it was run by the Friends Association. 'Last year, we took away the swimming pool at the school as it had come to the end of its life and there were other local pools we could use. 'Since then we have thought how the ground could be used and now have willow domes, and environmental area and the children have a garden where they can grow vegetables. 'We wanted to show locals what we have done with the area. It felt great for the community to see how it had improved.' Children took part in numerous races and games, including guess the weight of the calf, and enjoyed face- painting activities. 'Everyone had a great time,' she said.
