2,500 people tested positive for Covid in Teignbridge the past seven days, the latest figures reveal/

179 new people had a confirmed positive test result reported on February 5.

This means that between January 30 and February 5, 2,500 people had a confirmed positive test result. This shows an increase of 47.8% compared to the previous seven days.

Fortunately there were no deaths in the district within 28 days of a positive test for coronavirus reported on February 5.

The most recent figures from the Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust show that five people with coronavirus went into hospital on January 30.

There were 27 patients in hospital with coronavirus on February 1 with two coronavirus patients in hospital beds with a mechanical ventilator on the same day.
