A NURSING assistant at Langdon Hospital is raising money for the NHS after shaving his ‘magnificent’ beard to accommodate protective gear.
Adam Tancock’s sizeable beard, which doesn’t go hand-in-hand with wearing personal protective equipment, ‘had to go’ so that Adam could continue to work.
On Wednesday, he had his beard shaved off after ‘not really shaving for six or seven years.’
Adam said: ‘As you can see from the picture, life with a beard as magnificent as mine just doesn’t work with all the PPE we have to wear at the moment... Thanks corona!’
Word of Adam’s challenge has spread throughout Devon’s hospitals with donations coming in from staff at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital and other units in the NHS Devon Partnership Trust.
The money will go to an NHS run charity that specifically cares for Covid-19 patients.
So far Alex has reached his target of £1,000 but his fundraising page is open to donations for around two weeks.
