Covid cases in Teignbridge continue to rise and the number of people admitted to hospital is on the increase too.

187 new people had a confirmed positive test result reported in Teignbridge on January 23.

According to the latest Government figures, between January 17 and 23, 1,457 people had a confirmed positive test result. This shows an increase of 26.6% compared to the previous seven days.

There were no deaths within 28 days of a positive test for coronavirus reported in Teignbridge on January 23.

However 13 people died within 28 days of receiving a positive covid test across Devon in the most recent complete seven-day period (to Sunday, January16) – one fewer than last week. 

Vaccinations in Teignbridge:

111,804 people had been given a first dose by the end of January 22.

105,717 people had been given a second dose by the end of January 22.

And 89,648 people had been given a booster or third dose by the end of the same day.

Healthcare in Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust:

Four people with coronavirus went into hospital on January 16.

Between January 10 and 16 January 2022, 32 people went into hospital with coronavirus. This shows an increase of 6.7% compared to the previous seven days.

There were 35 patients in hospital with coronavirus on January 18.

Some people in the hospital need to use a special device called a mechanical ventilator to help them breathe.

There were no coronavirus patients in hospital beds with a mechanical ventilator on January 18.
