LIFESAVING equipment has been put in place at Stover Country Park, near Newton Abbot, this week.
A defibrillator has been installed at the popular nature reserve’s Visitor Centre thanks to funding from the British Heart Foundation and Bovey Tracey councillor George Gribble.
Staff at the beauty spot have also been equipped with a CPR kit as part of the heart foundation’s Nation of Lifesavers scheme.
Defibrillators are portable devices that can be used by anyone to help restart the heart when someone has a cardiac arrest.
Free training sessions on how to use the vital piece of kit for park users and members of the public are to be held on June 4, July 3, August 6 and September 5.
Cllr Gribble, also Bovey Tracey mayor, said: ‘I felt it was really important to allocate funding from the locality budget to help provide this lifesaving package at Stover Country Park.
‘We want to get as many people as possible trained in CPR and defibrillator awareness. The defibrillator has been placed at the Stover visitor centre which will increase people’s chances of survival should they suffer a cardiac arrest.’
For more information about the upcoming training sessions visit Stover County Park’s Facebook page or keep an eye out for posters on noticeboards dotted around the park.
