A team of renowned multiple sclerosis specialists is joining South Devon MS Society Group President Professor Jeremy Hobart to speak to those affected by the condition, at Torquay’s Grand Hotel tomorrow, September 29.

Neurologists Professor Gavin Giovannoni of Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry; Dr Klaus Schmierer of Queen Mary University of London; Dr Rachel Farrell of University College London; Djordje Gveric from the MS Register and Torbay Hospital’s Dr Agne Straukiene will all deliver talks.

People newly diagnosed or those who’ve had the condition for years, along with friends and family, can attend the exclusive event to hear about new research and meet other MS professionals.

Christina Montanjees, of the South Devon MS Society Group, said: ‘The speakers coming from London are among those leading the way in the world of MS research and this one-off event is a unique opportunity for the South West community to hear about the advances in MS treatment from both national and international speakers.’

Younger people affected by MS will also have the chance to meet the founder of ShiftMS, George Pepper.

From 9am to 4pm guests will also have the chance to meet local health care and advice providers.

Professor Jeremy Hobart said: ‘We want the emphasis of the day to be on how healthcare professionals and local people with MS can work together.’
