RESIDENTS of the Teign Valley have been given the chance to hear about plans for internet service in the area.
The meeting, organised by Cllr Amanda Ford, took place on June 3 and attracted a healthy turnout.
As well as residents, a number of provider representatives were present to discuss current and future broadband issues.
It was private network provider AirBand which won the tendering process to provide the area with super-fast broadband.
It is expected that this new provision will be going live in September this year.
If residents are still not receiving broadband speeds of 2mbps after this then they can access a £500 Government voucher through the Connecting Devon and Somerset website.
Cllr Ford said: ‘I am working with government organisations and MP Mel Stride to speed up mobile phone infrastructure for the Teign Valley.
‘Poor broadband speeds and non-existant mobile phone coverage are holding our businesses back.
‘This presentation has really helped people understand the situation. I will continue to press for changes.’
