THESE two high fliers joined what the founder has said should be the last Clap for Our Carers.
Sharyn Biggin, of Gleelands, Chudleigh, sent it along with the message: ‘This is a photo of myself and my husband Roger clapping for NHS and all Keyworkers in the plane he built.’
Yesterday evening (Thursday) many of us across Teignbridge grabbed our pots and pans and musical instruments and headed outdoors to show our appreciation.
The sound of clapping, cheering and wooden spoons hitting saucepan lids once again filled the streets and towns across Teignbridge as we celebrated those working on the front line of the coronavirus pandemic.
But founder Annemarie Plas has said the 10th week of clapping would be a good time for it to end and for it to instead become an annual event?
The campaign originally began as a one-off to support NHS staff on March 26, three days after the UK went into lockdown. It proved so popular it was expanded to cover all key workers and has continued every Thursday at 8pm.
Since then, the shows of appreciation have got ever more extravagant.
So is this the end of the weekly clap? Let’s wait and see next week. One thing’s for sure we all owe a huge debt of gratitude for all NHS staff, carers and key workers.
