THE South Devon Link Road Project has scooped up another major national award.

Now called the South Devon Highway, the project won the Community Engagement Award at the British Construction Industry Awards.

The project team which includes Devon County Council and Galliford Try, accepted the accolade at an awards ceremony in London last month.

Since opening, the project has received several prizes including two Institute of Civil Engineering awards.

Devon County Council’s cabinet member for economy and growth, Cllr Andrew Leadbetter, said: ‘Building the South Devon Link Highway was highly complex, involving many partners and engineering challenges.’

The 5.5km dual carriageway was officially opened in February 2016 by Roads Minister Andrew Jones.
