AN EQUINE event that dates back generations is set to take place at Chagford’s grass market next week.
Over 270 ponies are due to go under the hammer at the venue on Thursday, October 8 when the Dartmoor’s last surviving pony auction gets underway .
Rendells the auctioneers have experienced a tremendous level of interest from potential buyers from far and wide but with Covid 19 very much on everyone’s mind the auctioneers are emphasising that this is a business event not a social occasion and are requiring everyone attending the sale to purchase a buyers number for £10 which will be refunded on the purchase of one pony by that buyer.
The auctioneers are also regrettably requesting that people who just want to look at the ponies stay away and no children under 16 tears of age will be allowed in.
The sale is due to start at 11am.
